Sushma is a Postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Nagiel’s Lab. Her current research focuses on gene correction for inherited retinal disease.

She received Ph.D degree from Deakin University Australia in 2015. During her Ph.D., she studied Retinoblastoma, a pediatric eye cancer, encountered as a childhood malignancy below 5 years of age. She has developed a nanocarrier based delivery system to deliver therapeutic peptides and study the effect of these peptides on tumor growth reduction in xenograft mice model of Retinoblastoma.

Outside of the lab, she spends her time visiting places of natural beauty.
